Richard N. Valentine, Jr., MD, FACOG is a graduate of Virginia Tech and Wayne State University School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Valentine has over 25 years of experience in providing health care services for women, the last 20 years having been here in Virginia Beach.

Dr. Valentine is well-trained in all aspects of gynecological surgery and obstetrical care. This includes high-risk pregnancies, as well as providing care for both premenstrual and post-menopausal women.

Dr. Valentine has always been on the forefront in providing state-of-the-art and innovative medical care for his patients. He is uniquely trained in gynecological reconstructive surgery, laser surgery, hysteroscopic endometrial ablation using resectoscope or NovasureTM, and demonstrates an excellent tubal ligation reversal success rate. Dr. Valentine is one of the most experienced surgeons in the area utilizing operative laparoscopy to accomplish over 75% of surgeries including supracervical hysterectomy. This minimally invasive technique is preferable to major exploratory surgery whenever possible as it minimizes hospitalization and postoperative recovery time.

Dr. Valentine was one of the first physicians in the area to incorporate the practice of Nurse-Midwives and Nurse Practitioners into general obstetrical and gynecological care. This added dimension offers numerous benefits to our patients and practice and has become a standard of care throughout the community.

MaLena C. Sample, MD is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill.  She completed her training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in El Paso, Texas.   Dr. Sample is well-trained in all aspects of obstetrics, including high-risk pregnancies, major and minor laparoscopic surgery, abdominal and vaginal hysterectomies, laser and electro-surgical techniques.  Notably, she brings to the practice her special interest and experience related to uro-gynecology.
